The Louvre in Abu Dhabi, is getting the final preparation done for its grand opening in, supposedly, November 2017. The construction, which started in 2009, is in the final stages.

According to the architects, the design has been done keeping in mind the climatology and how that can shape the design of a particular building. They wanted for people to not witness a ‘thermal shock’ as it isn’t received well generally. They have tried to ‘create a welcoming world serenely combining light and shadow, reflection and calm’ through the structure which also hopes in stil a belonging to a place to its visitors. They hope that the visitors are able to travel across the country’s history and geography instead of the structure coming off as a flat entity. The designers have made the museum accessible by a boat or a pontoon for the people who would like to walk.

The unique collections in the museum make it a must visit place for those intrigued by art. The building stands as an art structure itself. The bookstores housed in the design and various kiosks offering local teas, coffees and delicacies are just what visitors need to absorb all the walking around the displays.

The place reflects calm and peace to the visitors so that they get a chance to reflect on the installations and displays they go through. The museum’s design celebrates the diversities and authenticities of the place. The Arabic dome is of utmost relevance and importance for anyone who visits the museum to connect with the architecture of Arab. The dome takes on the original version of the Arabic Dome- it is a double dome 180 meters in diameter, with horizontal and radiating geometry, a randomly perforated woven material, providing shade with sun seeping in through carefully punctured holes.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is supposed to be a sanctuary for those who are looking for a space to relax from the atrocities of the sun while enjoying its gleam.
